Landside Customer Co-ordinator (S/003)

Full-time - Permanent (five over seven shift pattern)
Port of Southampton

We are currently seeking to recruit a Landside Customer Co-ordinator to be based at our Landside Customer Service Department in Southampton.

Working in the Port means working in a physically demanding, manual industry where all operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance. The port operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Working within the Landside Customer Service Department means working in a very fast-paced environment where excellent customer service is vital. On average, over a period of 24 hours, 2000 lorries go through that area when entering or exiting the dock, and Landside Customer Service Department team are to ensure that all containers are checked and the drivers know where they are going to either drop off a container or pick one up. This is a crucial area as it supports the performance on the terminal. We are proud of our status as the biggest and most successful contract stevedore in the country and wish to continue to provide a high standard and quality of service and exceed our customers’ expectations.

The role entails working a five over seven shift pattern and is salary based.

Salary £27-28k - depending on experience + bonus

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide an effective and efficient service in line with customer requirements.
  • Communicate at all levels using various communication tools
  • Ability to use VBS booking system and other data systems.
  • Liaising with Landside control to carry out a variety of tasks on behalf of our customers.
  • Administration and paperwork collection.
  • Import inspection and checking containers.
  • Pre-gate seal checking.
  • Monitor and maintain work practices with focus on health and safety.

We are seeking individuals who can provide a first class, effective and efficient service to our operation ensuring that the high standards of service and performance levels are maintained and improved.

The main requirements for the position:  

  • Ability to carry out instructions efficiently as directed by management.
  • Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to working arrangements
  • Ability to work under pressure and have a flexible approach to the to the job role.
  • Administration skills – planning, organising and accurate completion of documents.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence is essential
