Car/Bus Driver

40hrs - Permanent
(every Friday / flexible approach reqd. to other days)

Port of Southampton

We are currently seeking a number of permanent Drivers, who are able to drive cars and buses for the RORO and Cruise operation on a 40 hour contract includes a requirement to work every Friday and a flexible approach to the other working days.

All operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance. The Port operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are proud of our status as the biggest and most successful contract Stevedore in the country and wish to continue to provide a high standard and quality of service and exceed our customers’ expectations.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • On/Off ship vehicle driving with particular focus on health and safety.
  • Other duties associated with vessel loading, discharging operations and mooring.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are maintained on both quality and standards.

We are seeking individuals who can provide a first class, effective and efficient service to our operation ensuring that the high standards of service and performance levels are maintained and improved. This can include multi skilling and variable job roles which require individuals who have an all-round approach to work and are adaptable to change.

Main requirements:

  • Flexible approach to working arrangements and able to work the shifts stipulated, which include every Friday.
  • Full driving licence essential, with the ability to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • All applicants must be over 21.

All applicants will go through a selection process to be short listed for an assessment day which will consist of psychometric tests and interview. Selected candidates will receive full training for the position.
